New York, NY and Denver, Colo. (October 30, 2026)—Continuing the 20th-anniversary season of The Met: Live in HD, the Metropolitan Opera’s acclaimed 2010 performance of Bizet’s Carmen returns to select U.S. cinemas on Saturday, November 14 at 1PM ET.

In his Met-debut staging, director Richard Eyre sets Bizet’s popular masterpiece in the 1930s during the Spanish Civil War, with mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča in the title role, opposite tenor Roberto Alagna as Don José. Soprano Barbara Frittoli sings the role of Micaëla, with baritone Teddy Tahu Rhodes as Escamillo. Conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin, now the Met’s Jeanette Lerman-Neubauer Music Director, the production marked the first opera Maestro Nézet-Séguin conducted at the Met. This transmission remains the bestselling title in the series’s 20-year history

Alongside Eyre, the production’s creative team also includes set and costume designer Rob Howell, lighting designer Peter Mumford, and choreographer Christopher Wheeldon. Gary Halvorson directed the Live in HD presentation for cinemas, which was originally transmitted live on January 16, 2010.

Tickets for Carmen are available online and at participating theatre box offices (theatre locations are subject to change). For more information, visit Fathom Entertainment.
