New York, NY and Denver, Colo. (November 12, 2025)— The Metropolitan Opera’s 2025–26 Live in HD season continues with Strauss’s Arabella on Saturday, November 22, at 1PM ET, starring soprano Rachel Willis-Sørensen in her role debut as Arabella, opposite bass-baritone Tomasz Konieczny in his Met role debut as Mandryka. Konieczny sang Don Pizarro in Beethoven’s Fidelio during the 2024–25 season and will appear as Kurwenal in the Met’s new production of Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde, directed by Yuval Sharon, later this season. Maestro Nicholas Carter takes the podium for Arabella, following his 2022 Met debut with Brett Dean’s Hamlet.
Soprano Louise Alder makes her highly anticipated Met debut as Zdenka. Also making her company debut is soprano Julie Roset, who sings the role of the Fiakermilli. Making their Met role debuts are mezzo-soprano Karen Cargill as Countess Adelaide Waldner, tenor Pavol Breslik as Matteo, and bass Brindley Sherratt as Count Waldner.
Otto Schenk’s production, with sets designed by Günther Schneider-Siemssen, costumes by Milena Canonero, and lighting by Gil Wechsler, premiered in 1983 and was last presented by the company in 2014. The November 22 performance of Arabella will mark the opera’s 62nd performance at the Met and inaugural Live in HD transmission to cinemas worldwide.
Fathom Entertainment will also present two encores of Arabella in theatres on Wednesday, December 3, at 1:00PM and 6:30PM local time.
