New York, NY and Denver – May 21, 2025 —The Metropolitan Opera’s 2024–25 Live in HD season concludes with Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia, on Saturday, May 31, at 1:00PM ET.
Fathom Entertainment, the leading specialty distributor of content to theatrical partners worldwide, will also present two encores of Il Barbiere di Siviglia, on Wednesday, June 4, at 1:00 PM and 6:30 PM local time.

Mezzo-soprano Aigul Akhmetshina sings the role of Rosina in Bartlett Sher’s production, following her critically acclaimed performances in the title role of Bizet’s Carmen during the 2023–24 Live in HD season. Singing opposite Akhmetshina is tenor Jack Swanson as Count Almaviva in his Met debut. Baritone Andrey Zhilikhovsky sings the role of Figaro in his Met role debut, and bass-baritone Peter Kálmán makes his company debut as Dr. Bartolo. Bass Alexander Vinogradov makes his Met role debut as Don Basilio, following his performance as Ramfis earlier this season in the Met’s new production of Verdi’s Aida. Giacomo Sagripanti takes the podium for the first time at the Met.
The creative team includes set designer Michael Yeargan, costume designer Catherine Zuber, and lighting designer Christopher Akerlind. Sher’s production premiered in 2006. The May 31 performance of Il Barbiere di Siviglia will mark the opera’s 643rd performance at the Met and third Live in HD transmission to cinemas worldwide.
Gary Halvorson will direct the Live in HD presentation, and countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo will host the transmission, sharing exclusive behind-the-scenes content and interviews during the intermission.
