DENVER, Colo. – March 2, 2026 –  Legends of the Lost Ark, a cinematic documentary adventure investigating one of history’s greatest mysteries — the Ark of the Covenant — will be released in theatres nationwide on April 12, 14, and 15. Produced by Gesher Media and presented in partnership with Myriad Pictures, the film comes to audiences from Fathom Entertainment, the leading specialty distributor of content to theatrical partners worldwide.

Blending cutting-edge technology, immersive reenactments, and rigorous academic scholarship, Legends of the Lost Ark reexamines the ancient artifact believed to embody the very presence of God. Directed by Stephen Pettit and hosted by renowned biblical archaeologist Dr. Chris McKinny, the film follows McKinny on a global investigation that at times feels like a real-life Indiana Jones expedition — grounded not in fiction but in archaeological research and historical inquiry.

“The Ark was not only lost — its story and significance have largely been forgotten,” said Dr. McKinny. “What happened to the Ark remains one of the most fascinating mysteries in human history. This film charts new territory in investigating the most ancient legends surrounding its disappearance.”

For the first time, three enduring legends surrounding the Ark’s disappearance are scrutinized through textual analysis, archaeological exploration, and expert theological debate. Through cinematic reenactments, the film vividly portrays the prophet Jeremiah’s desperate mission to safeguard the Ark during Jerusalem’s fall, placing audiences inside a pivotal moment in biblical history.

Filmed across multiple countries with a 200-person crew and more than 100 cast members, Legends of the Lost Ark delivers a large-format documentary experience built for the big screen. Director Stephen Pettit, whose credits include productions for National Geographic, Discovery, Columbia Pictures, Amazon MGM Studios, Showtime, and BYUtv, assembled the ambitious production to do justice to the mystery at its center.
