Fathom Entertainment has acquired U.S. theatrical distribution rights to “Grow,” a family-friendly film about a little girl with an extraordinary knack for growing giant pumpkins. The film will premiere nationwide on Oct. 3.

“Grow” follows Dinah Little (Golda Rosheuvel), a no-nonsense farmer with a tough-as-a-pumpkin exterior, who reluctantly takes in her abandoned niece, Charlie (Priya Rose-Brookwell). When the town’s biggest spectacle, the annual pumpkin-growing contest, is set to take place, Charlie realizes she has something no one else does: a special knack for connecting with plants that quietly reflects her own longing to feel seen and loved. As both pumpkin and plot thicken, Dinah and Charlie’s bond grows stronger as they compete against the fiercest competition the town has ever seen.

“Grow” is directed by John McPhail (“Anna and the Apocalypse”). Additional cast members include Nick Frost (“Hot Fuzz,” “How To Train Your Dragon”), Dominic McLaughlin (“Harry Potter”), Alan Carr (“Interior Design Masters, “RuPaul’s Drag Race UK”), Joe Wilkinson (“Afterlife”), Kathryn Drysdale (“Bridgerton”), Fisayo Akinade (“Heartstopper”), and Sharon Rooney (“Barbie”).

“Just in time for Halloween, ‘Grow’ is an uplifting and heartwarming family film for movie lovers of all ages that American audiences are sure to embrace,” said Ray Nutt, Chief Executive Officer at Fathom Entertainment. “A pure, joyous comedy – with just a little bit of spice – Fathom is so proud to work with Double Nickel, Sky, and our other partners to take ‘Grow’ to the big screen this October.”

“We are thrilled to partner with Fathom for the U.S. theatrical release of ‘Grow,’” said Jenette Kahn and Adam Richman, partners of Double Nickel Entertainment. “Although horror movies tend to be the norm in October, Fathom is giving families a wonderful alternative, a comic, warmhearted perennial movie that lets them celebrate the Halloween season together.”

The film will be released in partnership with Double Nickel Entertainment, which has previously produced projects such as “Gran Torino” and “The Burial.”

“Grow” will be distributed in the U.K. and Ireland by Sky Cinema.
