Indiana, Pa and Denver Colo. – May 20, 2026 – Burns & Co. Entertainment and Fathom Entertainment, the leading specialty distributor of content to theatrical partners worldwide, debuted the official new trailer for the highly anticipated feature film, JIMMY, based on the untold, true story of beloved American icon Jimmy Stewart, arriving in theatres November 6, 2026.
KJ Apa, who stars in JIMMY with his portrayal of the Hollywood legend, recently attended the hometown birthday celebration in Indiana, Pa. with Director and Producer of JIMMY, Aaron Burns and Stewart’s daughter and JIMMY Executive Pro ducer, Kelly Stewart-Harcourt, to honor the beloved actor and Academy Award® winner.
Complementing the day’s festivities, the Jimmy Stewart Museum and Burns & Co. Entertainment unveiled a special exhibit, “The Making of JIMMY,” offering visitors a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the film. The exhibit features props and costumes from production alongside an extensive photography collection from the set, bringing to life how Stewart’s legacy continues to captivate fans of all generations.
Today would have marked Stewart’s 118th birthday and is officially designated as “Jimmy Stewart Day” in Pennsylvania, led by Pennsylvania State Representative Jim Struzzi. Communities and organizations across the Commonwealth are recognizing the famous actor and World War II hero.
Quotes
“Jimmy Stewart was a hero. His legacy of service to the United States, his global reach through his films, and his devotion to his family are unparalleled,” said KJ Apa, star of JIMMY. “Taking on this role is an enormous responsibility, and our goal is to honor his legacy, service, and family through JIMMY and share his story to remind audiences that heroes such as Jimmy did and still do exist.”
“I am thrilled to be part of this celebration of Dad’s birthday in his hometown, Indiana, Pennsylvania,” said Stewart-Harcout. “This is the place that made him the man he became and the life he led. But we are not just celebrating what would have been Dad’s 118th birthday. This is also a premiere of the new trailer for the film, JIMMY, as well as the opening of the new film-related exhibit at the Jimmy Stewart Museum.
Stewart-Harcout continued, “I remember all those years ago, when Dad was first approached about the idea of a museum based on his life and at the time, he balked. It just seemed too egotistical to him. He agreed to it primarily because the museum would always be part of the town of Indiana. I believe my father would have been equally hesitant towards the notion of a film based on his life. But I have no doubt that if Dad were here today, he would feel honored by both the museum and the film JIMMY, because they both capture his spirit.”
Stewart-Harcout concluded, “When I walk down the streets of Indiana, I feel that spirit. My family and I are so grateful to the many people who have been responsible for the museum’s continued development and to all the people involved in the film JIMMY. Thank you for keeping Dad alive.”
“I am extremely excited for the release of JIMMY and look forward to the special first look on Jimmy Stewart Day at the Jimmy Stewart Museum,” Rep. Struzzi said. “This year the House of Representatives passed my Jimmy Stewart Day designation to further highlight the life and legacy of Indiana County’s local hero.”
“The collaboration with Burns & Co. reflects the strength of a truly meaningful partnership and a shared commitment to honoring Jimmy Stewart’s enduring legacy,” said Jennifer Buckles, Executive Director of The Jimmy Stewart Museum. “We are deeply grateful for their generosity in sharing film-related content for our upcoming exhibit, ‘The Making of JIMMY,’ which will not only enrich the visitor experience but also help draw new audiences to the Museum and further support our mission of preserving and celebrating his life and work. There’s something especially meaningful about this moment taking place at The Jimmy Stewart Museum, here in Indiana, PA – the hometown that shaped him. It adds a deeper sense of connection and purpose to the experience, allowing visitors to engage with his story in the very place where it all began.”
“Hope and inspiration were at the heart of who Jimmy Stewart was, both on screen and in life. By debuting our film’s trailer in his hometown of Indiana, Pennsylvania, we hope to honor his legacy, and inspire a new generation to live and love like Jimmy did,” commented Burns.
