The Met: Live in HD Season Continues with Special Encores of Massenet’s Cinderella on February 14 & 18

New York, NY and Denver, Colo. (January 29, 2026)— The Metropolitan Opera’s abridged, English-language version of Massenet’s Cinderella returns to cinemas this winter as part of the 2025–26 Live in HD season. Laurent Pelly’s whimsical storybook staging of the beloved fairy tale will be shown in select U.S. theaters on February 14 at 1:00PM and February 18 at 1:00PM and 6:30PM (all local times). The opera is presented in a 90-minute abridged version with an English translation, based on the original French libretto, by Kelley Rourke.

Conductor Emmanuel Villaume leads Massenet’s elegant score, with mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard starring in the title role, opposite mezzo-soprano Emily D’Angelo as Prince Charming. The cast also features soprano Jessica Pratt as the Fairy Godmother, with mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe as Madame de la Haltière and bass-baritone Laurent Naouri as Pandolfe.

Alongside Pelly, who also designed the costumes, the production’s creative team includes set designer Barbara de Limburg, lighting designer Duane Schuler, and choreographer Laura Scozzi. The English adaptation is by librettist, translator, and dramaturg Kelley Rourke. Habib Azar directed the Live in HD presentation for cinemas, which was originally transmitted live on January 1, 2022.
