Denver – September 17, 2025 – Fathom Entertainment, the leading specialty distributor of content to theatrical partners worldwide, in partnership with Warner Bros. Pictures, is proud to bring The Family McMullen to theatres across the United States on October 15 with tickets available now for a special one-night engagement just in time to head into the holiday season.
The Family McMullen takes place 30 years after the famed The Brothers McMullen premiered and scored several film festival awards for independent films, including the Grand Jury Prize at the 1995 Sundance Film Festival, and proved a hit with U.S. audiences, making it the most profitable film of 1995. Written, directed, produced and starring then-newcomer Edward Burns, The Brothers McMullen explored the lives and struggles of three Irish American brothers from New York.
In addition to Burns (Saving Private Ryan, The Holiday), The Family McMullen stars multiple EMMY® and Golden Globe Awards-nominated actress Connie Britton (“Friday Night Lights,” “American Horror Story,” “The White Lotus”) and Michael McGlone (She’s the One, The Bone Collector), reprising their roles from The Brothers McMullen, alongside EMMY® and SAG Award nominee and Golden Globes winner Tracee Ellis Ross (American Fiction, “Black-ish”), SAG Award winner Juliana Canfield (“Succession”), Pico Alexander (Home Again, “Gossip Girl”), SAG Award winner Brian d’Arcy James (Spotlight) and Halston Sage (X-Men: Dark Phoenix, “Prodigal Son”).
As with the original, The Family McMullen is an ensemble comedy written and directed by Burns which tracks the romantic entanglements of a now 50something Barry McMullen (Burns) and his 20something kids, as well as his brother Patrick (McGlone) and widowed sister-in-law Molly (Britton), who are also facing unexpected romantic hurdles.
“I couldn’t be more excited to be working with Warner Bros. and Fathom Entertainment to bring these characters back to the big screen,” stated Burns. “My hope in re-exploring the McMullen clan was to make another film that would put a smile on the audience’s face and remind moviegoers that home isn’t just a place, it’s the people you share it with.”
“A long-awaited follow-up to one of the most iconic indie films of all time, The Family McMullen is a prized film project that Fathom is very pleased to collaborate on with Warner Bros. and bring to theatres nationwide,” said Ray Nutt, Chief Executive Officer at Fathom Entertainment. “With immense on-screen talents in Edward Burns, Connie Britton and more, The Family McMullen is a sequel that fans of the original movie and new fans alike are sure to enjoy in theatres on October 15.”
Tickets for The Family McMullen are available now at Fathom Entertainment and participating theatre box offices (theatre locations are subject to change). For more information, visit Fathom Entertainment.
